We can only answer support enquiries from an email address that is associated with an active uSkinned member account.
Your uSkinned Theme will work unrestricted on localhost however you will need to add your license file to the /bin folder for live domains. Your license file can be configured and downloaded from your members area.
The status of your license can be viewed via the Developer Section > uSkinned License Tab (Umbraco 7) or via the uSkinned Section (Umbraco 8). From this section you can see if your license file has been installed. You can either upload your license file via this section or manually add your license file to the /bin directory of your website.
Please note, if your website is accessed from a domain that is not listed in your license file it will immediately invalidate your license. An invalid license message will remain until you restart your website. Your website must only be accessed from a valid domain.
A message will be displayed within the Umbraco CMS stating the invalid domain or IP which has accessed the website. Go to Developer Section > uSkinned License Tab (Umbraco 7) or via the uSkinned Section (Umbraco 8) to see the message.
If you have more than one domain pointing to your website, please refer to the following help guide on setting up domain redirects correctly:
Occasionally we will release updates to your uSkinned Theme which may contain bug fixes or new features. The Theme Updates log for each theme can be found at the bottom of each theme detail page on this website.
Unfortunately we cannot provide an automated update process as we have no way of knowing how you may customise your chosen theme. There would be a danger that any changes you have made would be overwritten.
For Umbraco 7 the updates log will notify you of what changes have been made between versions. Using this, you may be able to identify what has changed and copy the files from the latest package to your own website.
Minor version updates (0.01 > 0.02) will involve only file changes and updates can be achieved by copying the changed files into your current website.
Medium version updates (0.10 > 0.20) may involve in addition to file change updates, updates to Document Types or Data Types. Instructions will be provided on what has been changed and what will need to be added manually to your website.
Major version updates (1.0 > 2.0) involve significant changes to your uSkinned theme and there will be no easy upgrade process. Major version changes are essentially a brand new theme. If you wish to use new features and there is no easy upgrade path then you should install a new version of your theme and then manually move content from your old site into the new site.
For Umbraco 8 we will release update packages if possible that can be installed against your existing Umbraco 8 theme. Please refer to the installation guide available via your members area for the steps to take for Umbraco 8 theme upgrades.
If you wish to host multiple websites under a single Umbraco installation you will be required to purchase a domain license for each website. Once purchased please contact uSkinned and we will manually create your license file for you.
